An Appeals Committee shall be appointed.

Ties In the event of ties, titles and prize monies will be shared equally except in the Championship itself. The method of tie-break for the Championship only will be the FIDE performance (TPR) of the players involved.

Default/Repairing Players without opponents may be re-paired after the elapse of 30 minutes. Players arriving more than 30 minutes late will be defaulted.

Byes Players wishing a bye must request it on the entry form. In the unlikely event of a player asking for a bye after round 2 then it will not count towards any Championship title.

Titles will only be awarded to those satisfying Scottish nationality who are also members of Chess Scotland.

Scottish entrants to the Championship & International must be members of Chess Scotland.

Discounts Juniors may deduct 20% from the quoted entry fee.  Two or more entrants from the same address are entitled to a 10% discount. Players taking part in a morning and afternoon event may have a 50% discount on the morning events.  To claim a discount all entries must be received at the same time.

Example  A father, son and daughter enter the event.  The father plays in the Championship and the Blitz, the daughter plays in the Championship and the Schools event and the son plays in the Blitz and Rapidplay.  They all enter in February.

The father gets 50% discount on his Blitz entry (4), the daughter gets 20% discount on Championship (12) and 50% discount on Schools (7.50), the son gets 20% discount on Blitz and Rapidplay (4).

These discounts are taken off the total (2x60, 2x8, 1x15, 2 x12) to give a total of 147.50.  They can now apply the family discount of 10% saving a further 14.75.  Total paid is therefore 132.75

Civic Reception It is likely that Dundee Council will provide a reception for participants on the Friday evening before play begins.  (See website for confirmation.)  Please indicate your attendance on the entry form.

Mobile Phones: These are permitted but must be switched off at all times in the playing venue (players and spectators).  During play the phone should be in a bag and must not be carried by the player.  A player having a phone on his person will lose the game.

Anyone who MUST have an active phone should inform the arbiter prior to the beginning of play – failure to do so shall result in the player forfeiting the game.

Smoking is not permitted in the building or surrounding area.

Play shall be governed by the 2017 FIDE Laws of Chess.
